Shivamogga: Union minister for heavy industries and steel, HD Kumaraswamy, who on Sunday participated in the state-level Bhagavad Gita Abhiyana 2025 Maha-Samarapana at Freedom Park (Allama Maidan) in Shivamogga, said he will discuss with the central education minister about introducing Bhagavad Gita as a part of the curriculum in schools, colleges, and universities.“Not just in schools and colleges, Bhagavad Gita should be taught at all levels of education. I will bring this to the notice of the central govt,” he said, addressing an event.Former DCM KS Eshwarappa had requested him to take up the matter with the central govt, emphasising the importance of including Bhagavad Gita in the school curriculum, Kumaraswamy informed. He emphasised the need to teach Ramayana and Mahabharata in schools to guide society on the right path. “Our religion and tradition are the foundation of our lives. We need to teach these epics to eliminate violence and unrest in society.““There is chaos and violence in society. That’s why the Bhagavad Gita should be taught not only in homes but in every school as well,” the minister stated.Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, governor of Kerala, said, “When we face difficulties, God doesn’t incarnate; instead, He alleviates our troubles through saints like Adi Shankaracharya and Basaveshwara. It is said that God incarnates whenever adharma increases, but He is still present in the form of saints. Krishna’s message is a model for humanity, and the Bhagavad Gita holds solutions to all the world’s problems.“The event was graced by revered spiritual leaders, including Sonda Swarnavalli Mahasamsthana’s seer Srimad Gangadharendra Saraswati.Other dignitaries who attended the programme were Swyam Prakash Satchidananda Saraswati of Hariharapura, Dr Shri Mallikarjuna Murugharajendra of Bekkinakalmata, Nadamayanandanatha Mahaswami of Adichunchanagiri Maha Sansthana branch, Shivamogga, former chief minister Yediyurappa, DCM KS Eshwarappa, MP BY Raghavendra, and MLC DS Arun.
