Palantir Technologies (PLTR 1.35%) has been the darling of the stock market since 2023. It has posted incredible growth over the last three years, but the tides have turned for Palantir stock in 2026. Although it last set a new all-time high in October 2025, it ended 2025 about 10% down from that high. It has had a poor 2026 and is now down around 35% from its high. That’s a sizable discount on a stock that many point to as a poster child of what artificial intelligence (AI) adoption can provide for businesses. Furthermore, Palantir’s Q4 2025 results were…
The food crises of 2008, 2010, and 2012, as well as continuing food price volatility, underscore the vulnerability of the world’s food system. The world will need to feed 9 billion people by 2050. A sobering 70 percent increase in global agricultural production will be necessary to feed them. Unless higher small and large crop yields can be reached, many people will remain hungry and trapped in poverty. Now, more than ever, the world needs to increase investment in agriculture, which is two to four times more effective in raising incomes among the very poor than growth in other sectors.…

Insurance premiums may be falling, but prices are still higher than a few years ago. If you’re feeling the squeeze, you might be tempted to cancel a policy and pay for costs yourself. That’s a calculation I made with my 13-year-old cat, Nigel. When he needed surgery last year, the vet bill came to around £3,000. Instead of claiming on insurance, I paid from savings. For now, self-insuring has worked – but it is still a gamble. In some cases, ditching cover and building your own savings pot can make financial sense. In others, it could leave you seriously out of pocket.…
By Lucian Bebchuk Most immediate reactions to the defeat of the emergency legislation in the House of Representatives seem to assume that, facing a choice between approval and government inaction that could bring about a financial meltdown, the House irresponsibly and irrationally opted for the latter. But the defeat of this particular bill hardly leaves us with inaction as the only alternative. The bill was defeated at least partly because of its inability to gather sufficient public support due to its evident flaws. Congress can and should adopt quickly a bill that would address these flaws and consequently enjoy strong…
John Hart, a co-director of MIT’s Initiative for New ManufacturingM SCOTT BRAUER After all, Love and his colleagues created a new method for making batches of certain types of drugs. That’s manufacturing; it’s an innovation leading directly to production, and the small size of the operation means it won’t get shipped overseas. And, as Love enjoys pointing out, his team’s innovation is hardly the first case of using living cells to make a product for nearby consumption. Your local craft brewery is actually a modestly sized manufacturer that won’t be shipping its jobs overseas either. “The emerging generation of manufacturing…
By Christine Ji Microsoft’s stock is nearing its 200-week moving average, which has historically provided support for a comeback rally Shares of Microsoft are less than 3% above their 200-week moving average, which has provided key technical support in the past. According to history, betting against Microsoft’s stock over the longer term has been a fool’s errand. Will it be different this time? Microsoft’s stock (MSFT) has emerged as the biggest “Magnificent Seven” loser in 2026 thus far. After peaking at a record close of $542.07 on Oct. 28, shares of Microsoft have dropped 28.5% since, including a 19.9% decline…
