Liz Truss’s 49-day tenure as prime minister left her little time to put her stamp on the UK economy. Markets reacted sharply to her “mini” Budget plans; a £60bn package of tax cuts was swiftly abandoned as gilt yields soared and the value of the pound plummeted. The episode marked a break from expected market behaviour: usually, the forces that push bond yields higher (such as rising interest rates) would also support a stronger currency. But in 2022, the opposite happened. Analysts coined the term “moron risk premium” to describe the extra interest that investors demanded in the face of unpredictable…

In pharmaceutical and especially advanced therapy manufacturing, the pressure to scale up, accelerate timelines, and cut costs has never been greater. In response, many organisations have turned to new digital systems, layers of oversight, and waves of automation, only to discover that performance hasn’t improved and that what they thought was the solution, now is the problem. Teams are drowning in endless dashboards, redundant controls, and “initiative fatigue”. Yet, the manufacturers truly outperforming their peers share a defining trait: a ruthless commitment to simplicity, built on Lean principles and purposeful automation. Lean thinking: A timeless framework for a changing industry…

(Photo Illustration by Thomas Fuller/SOPA Images/LightRocket via Getty Images)SOPA Images/LightRocket via Getty ImagesCommvault Systems (CVLT) shares have decreased by 31% in the past day and are currently priced at $89.13. The sharp drop came after the company’s most recent earnings release. While Commvault reported strong revenue and earnings beats, its forward guidance and growth expectations disappointed investors, who had been pricing in acceleration rather than just in-line forecasts. Concerns about slower near-term growth in subscription revenue and a high valuation multiple also weighed on…
As precious metals touch record highs, investors are once again weighing the gold-versus-silver trade-off. According to “Gold is Talking, Silver is Screaming: A Case for Prudent Repositioning”, a recent report by WhiteOak Mutual Fund, the current rally has entered a phase where the distinction between the two metals matters more than ever for portfolio strategy. The report argues that gold and silver are sending very different signals. Gold’s rise reflects macroeconomic stress—currency weakness, geopolitical risk and concerns over fiscal stability in advanced economies. Silver’s sharp surge, on the other hand, points to heightened speculative activity layered on top of industrial…
What is forex day trading? Forex day trading is the practice of opening and closing currency pair positions within the same trading day. Forex day traders buy and sell multiple currency pairs on the same day with the aim of taking advantage of small market movements, while avoiding overnight funding costs (which apply if a position stays open past 10pm UK time). Also referred to as intra-day trading, day trading isn’t for the part-timer, as it takes time, focus, dedication, and a mindset to match. It involves making fast decisions and executing many trades for a relatively small potential profit…
