Netflix fans have shared the three television shows that “genuinely” make them “burst out laughing”, branding them “pure comedy gold” as they believe each episode is a hit
Netflix viewers have listed their top picks for what they believe are the “best” comedy series you can binge on the streaming giant, with episodes described as “all hits” and “no misses”. Comedy is subjective and what amuses one person might leave another cold, but there are certain films and TV programmes that win over masses of fans.
Certain shows endure through the years and connect with audiences everywhere, with one Netflix enthusiast eager to uncover which ones were considered the cream of the crop. Heading to Reddit, they asked: “Which is the best long comedy show on Netflix for nonstop laughter?”
However, they had specific requirements and weren’t interested in watching something that was a slow starter or contained any weak episodes.
They clarified: “I’m looking for a long comedy series on Netflix that I can watch while eating or during small breaks. The goal is simple: laugh as hard as humanly possible.
“Please suggest shows that are all hits, no misses – the kind that will genuinely make me burst out laughing. No slow burners, no ‘it gets better after a few episodes’ types. Just pure comedy gold from the start.”
Users were keen to offer their suggestions, with three particular programmes dominating the recommendations.
Arrested Development
This acclaimed satirical comedy revolves around the troubled Bluth clan, who find themselves stripped of their fortune yet persist in maintaining an extravagant way of life.
Their entitlement and self-centredness contribute to the humour while Jason Bateman’s “straight man” Michael does his utmost to maintain order among them all.
The show initially aired for three seasons from 2003 to 2006 before being axed due to poor viewing figures, despite receiving critical praise and gaining a devoted following. The show made a comeback for a fourth series in 2013 and a fifth series spanning 2018 and 2019.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Many other Reddit users championed Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Created by the writers and producers behind successes including The Office US, Parks and Recreation and others, the show focuses on a group of New York Police Department detectives working under their strict new captain, Raymond Holt.
The series spanned eight seasons from 2013 through to 2021. It starred Andy Samberg alongside an ensemble cast featuring Terry Crews, Stephanie Beatriz, Joe Lo Truglio, Melissa Fumero and others.
It garnered critical praise and secured prestigious accolades including Golden Globes, Emmys and more.

Schitt’s Creek
Another show that received widespread acclaim on the popular social media platform was Schitt’s Creek.
The Canadian comedy series was developed by Dan Levy alongside his father Eugene Levy, broadcasting from 2015 to 2020 across six seasons totalling 80 episodes.
The show centres on the affluent Rose family following their financial ruin, forcing them to move to Schitt’s Creek, an isolated Canadian town that’s their only remaining asset – originally purchased as a joke, which only compounds their humiliation.
Their previously extravagant way of life clashes dramatically with their new situation – as well as their new neighbours, providing the comedic foundation.
The series garnered numerous accolades, particularly for its final season which claimed all seven major comedy prizes at the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards – marking the first occasion a comedy series accomplished such a sweep.
