A hotel in Euston has been recognised with the highly sought-after Eco-Smart Platinum Accreditation, the highest sustainability level awarded.

The Wesley Euston has successfully advanced from its previous Eco-Smart Gold accreditation to achieve Platinum status, highlighting its continued commitment to sustainable hospitality. The prestigious certification recognises the hotel’s ongoing efforts to minimise its environmental footprint through energy efficiency, responsible sourcing and carbon reduction.

By meeting the stringent criteria for this top-tier standard, the hotel continues to demonstrate its focus on integrating eco-friendly initiatives into every aspect of its operations.

Part of The Wesley Euston’s broader environmental strategy includes reducing carbon emissions and embracing eco-friendly products such as palm-oil-free cleaning and toiletry products. The hotel has also implemented robust waste management and responsible sourcing, all of which contribute to its strong sustainability credentials.

Energy-efficient lighting, water-saving fixtures including low-flow taps and a towel and linen reuse programme to reduce resource consumption have also been introduced. These measures – combined with building performance improvements, a B energy rating and the installation of smart meters – have contributed to a fall in electricity usage by 4% between August 2023 and August 2025.

James Barr, General Manager of The Wesley Euston, said: “This achievement reflects our continued dedication to sustainability and responsible business practices. We are proud to retain this recognition, which highlights our ongoing efforts to reduce our environmental footprint while delivering an exceptional guest experience.”

He added: “Our core values of sustainability and community guide our efforts and we continue to prioritise social responsibility alongside environmental goals. Sustainability is part of everything we do, from energy and water efficiency to eco-friendly cleaning, while keeping a close eye on waste and recycling to reduce our impact. We aim to make tangible changes that have a positive impact not just for our guests, but also for our wider community and the planet.”

The Wesley Euston’s efforts go beyond Eco-Smart Platinum, as it also holds additional sustainability-related certifications, including Green Key and Green Tourism. Additionally, it offers a ‘Green Meeting’ package, providing an environmentally conscious option for event organisers with carbon tracking and resource-efficient functions.

The hotel also offers hybrid meeting options, encouraging virtual participation and reducing travel-related emissions, alongside providing recyclable meeting materials, like notebooks.

Its sister hotel in Camden Town has also been awarded the Gold standard accreditation, marking the first time the property has achieved the recognition.
