Washington | Joe Lewis, the British billionaire and former owner of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, received a pardon from President Donald Trump on Thursday (Friday AEDT) for his US conviction for insider trading linked to Australia’s largest beef producer.
The 88-year-old, who pleaded guilty last year to two counts of securities fraud and one of conspiracy to commit securities fraud, was pardoned to allow him to travel to the US for medical treatment and to visit his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, according to a White House official.
