PAYPAL and Venmo users have reported widespread issues with both payment platforms.

Users complained of a global outage that left them in the dark around 11:50 am ET, or 4:50 pm BST, on Thursday.

Around 30 minutes after the incident started, reports spiked to nearly 10,000 on DownDetector.

Most users said they were kicked out of their accounts and had issues logging back in.

Some business owners said the outage left them unable to print shipping labels or view essential financial information.

Account owners in the US, UK, Spain, Germany, and elsewhere said they were affected by the blackout.

One person said PayPal “completely shut down” and that they couldn’t purchase anything with their account.

“I’ve tried everything and can’t log in,” wrote another user.

Users of the PayPal-owned software Venmo reported similar issues, with one person saying they were repeatedly getting a “not working” error message.

One user wrote that once they tried to log back in to the account, they received a message that said, “We’re sorry. We’re having some trouble completing your request right now.

“Please try again shortly, and if it persists let us know,” read the message, according to the user.

In replies on X, Venmo’s support account admitted that the platform was dealing with an “ongoing issue.”

“We understand the inconvenience you are facing at the moment,” the company told several users.

Venmo explained that it is working to resolve the outage.

PayPal’s support account on X shared the same message with users.

By 12:15 ET, users started to comment on DownDetector that they could once again use their accounts.

The U.S. Sun has reached out to PayPal for comment on the blackout.

PAYPAL CRASH

This isn’t the first time that PayPal and Venmo users have experienced issues with the apps.

In August, some users feared they had lost hundreds of dollars in rent payments after there was a global outage.

At the time, thousands of people reported experiencing technical difficulties, and some feared their accounts had been hacked.

“I went to send $860 for rent and the transaction is nowhere to be found,” a frustrated customer wrote online at the time.

PayPal was silent throughout the outage, but eventually released a statement saying the issue had been resolved.
