Benidorm star reveals exactly how much money he still makes in royalties from hit ITV comedy – despite appearing on screen for just TWO MINUTES

A Benidorm star has revealed exactly how much money he still makes in royalties from the hit ITV comedy – despite appearing on the screen for just two minutes. 

Singer Asa Elliott, 43, played himself in the comedy series – which was on our screens between 2007 and 2018 – between 2012 and 2014.

Asa went on to star in a total of 13 episodes across seasons five and six. 

Although he hasn’t been on our screens on the show for quite some time, he still gets money in the bank due to royalties.   

Speaking on TikTok back in August, Asa said: ‘How much I received in royalties last year for filming Benidorm over 10 years ago. 

‘So when I first started filming the show there was nothing in my contract where I’d receive repeat fees or royalties.

‘But thankfully my agent at the time, she managed to renegotiate the contract when I had some scenes with extra dialogue and I was in a few more episodes.

‘And ever since then, I’ve been receiving royalties every year.

‘Now it’s always a bit of a mystery when they’re going to arrive and how much it’s going to be for, I had no idea.

‘But last year I got two different payments which dropped into my account.’

He then went on to share some screen grabs of his bank statements.  

Asa continued: ‘So it was two payments. £81.00 and £98.00.

‘Those were the repeat fees or the royalties I got for Benidorm filmed way over 10 years ago.

‘Now remember the first time I got royalties, I didn’t know it was coming and I got £1,000 in my bank account.

Many rushed to the comments section to share how much they loved the information he shared on his platform 

‘It was so unexpected and so welcomed. 

‘Ever since then it’s been two or three hundred pounds every year, so I only had quite a small role in the show.

‘See, can you imagine how much the main actors get every year. I’d love to ask them.’

Fans rushed to the comments section to share their shock with many saying the same thing. 

‘To be fair Asa… I have been watching Benidorm constantly, we go to sleep with it on. So that being so, I think I have helped you get your royalties. so where can I put my time sheet in for the long work hours I have done to help you.’ 

‘Benidorm is my comfort I watch it to get myself to sleep. If I stop somewhere with no TV I put Benidorm on my phone to go to sleep.’ 

While others said: ‘Fascinating.’

Benidorm isn’t the only show that Asa has appeared on over the years.

He’s also been in My Music: Rock, Pop & Doo Wop. 

The singer also appeared on talent show Stars In Their Eyes. 

Benidorm aired between 2007 and 2017 and received acclaim from critics and viewers alike.
