Stephanie Rice has shared that she and her husband are ready to move out of their apartment and have begun looking for a new rental. But they find themselves facing one issue: Rice is currently unemployed.

The Aussie Olympian has made headlines recently after returning to social media to share her journey into unemployment. While it all seemed like good news at the time, it may have now left her family in a bit of a pickle.

In a new reel posted to Instagram, Rice shared that a three-year build has just started construction right outside the apartment she shares with husband Mark Lassey in Dubai.

With construction from 6:30am to 10:30pm every day and their rental agreement coming to an end in two weeks, Rice shared it seems like the right time to make the move.

“We’ve been looking at so many different properties over the past year, and honestly, it’s just kind of depressing. We always come home, and we’re like, ‘Ugh’,” she said.

She shared that she and Lassey are now just facing the issue that he is the only one with a source of income as a pastor at their church.

“And we’re in this position where we want to move out in two weeks – that’s when our rental agreement ends, that’s when our gym membership ends,” she said.

“And we’re in this place where I’m like, I know God knows the timing. I know God has a plan. I know He sees all of the nuances of our situation, but at the same time I’m like… okay, God, but like, also like when? Like, timing’s getting pretty close, could you maybe just share a little bit more details?”

Rice asked her followers for any advice they could share and promised to keep them updated on what happens.

Rice recently shared that she had been offered the role of CEO at her company, but had decided to turn it down and instead leave the business, leaving her unemployed for the first time in her life.

The news came upon Rice’s return to social media following a one-year hiatus. She decided to take a break from all platforms after she married Lassey in early 2025 and moved to Dubai.
