Shemaroo Entertainment Ltd has secured permission from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) to uplink and downlink a new non-news and current affairs television channel, Mango TV.

According to the latest MIB records, the permission has been granted to Shemaroo Entertainment Limited for the Hindi-language channel. The channel has received approval for both uplinking and downlinking and will operate using the Indian satellite GSAT-30.

The licence has been issued under the company’s corporate identity number (CIN) L67190MH2005PLC158288. The ministry’s records list Sunil Bansal, CA Reeta Bharat Shah, Jai Maroo, Hiren Gada, Atul H. Maru, Raman H. Maroo, Abbas Ismail Contractor, Rajen Hemchand Gada and Kashmira Dedhia as the company’s directors.

The approval enables Shemaroo to launch and distribute Mango TV as a non-news and current affairs television channel in Hindi. The ministry’s records, however, do not specify the channel’s programming strategy, launch timeline or genre positioning.

The development comes as broadcasters continue to expand their linear television portfolios even as they strengthen their digital and OTT offerings. Shemaroo currently operates channels across movie, devotional and regional entertainment genres while also maintaining a significant presence in the digital streaming and content syndication business.

Storyboard18 has reached out to Shemaroo Entertainment for details on Mango TV’s content strategy and expected launch timeline. The story will be updated if the company responds.
