Hong Kong is expected to roast in the coming days as the city’s weather authorities warned on Friday that temperatures in some areas will reach 37 C or above.

As Tropical Cyclone Dolphin moves towards Zhejiang province and northern Fujian province, its outer subsiding air will persistently bring extremely hot weather to the territory during the weekend and on Monday, the Hong Kong Observatory said in a weather notice.

High temperatures will also trigger thundery showers, the HKO added.

At noon, Dolphin was centered about 110 kilometers north-northeast of Okinawa. After crossing the East China Sea, it is forecast to make landfall along the country’s eastern coast this weekend.

Scorching heat is expected to continue with a few showers as a southwesterly airstream is expected to affect the coast of Guangdong midweek, the observatory said.
