Green Plant of the Year Voting Now Open!

Sustainability still matters to food and beverage processors — and especially to consumers. At least that’s what we’ve found over the past 18 months or so of Donald Trump’s second presidential term. Even if the administration has peeled back some of the efforts and even occasionally badmouthed previous administrations’ environmental policies and programs.

How do we know? Sure, there has been plenty of news of companies cutting back, abandoning or downsizing their efforts and targets to be more Earth-friendly over the past year.

Nevertheless, many processors still devote resources to sustainability initiatives, and our annual Green Plant of the Year competition continues to reel in food and beverage plants doing just that. Those plants (three of them this year) are vying to be named the 2026 Food Processing Green Plant of the Year:

  • Ajinomoto Foods North America: Portland, Ore.
  • Gills Onions: Oxnard, Calif.
  • Perdue Farms: Lewiston, N.C.

That’s where you come in, dear readers. Click on the link to read the short entries for each of our competitors this year, and then vote for the one you think is best! We will tally the votes and feature that plant in our September issue and online. It takes only a few minutes to pick a winner — help us celebrate these companies’ fine achievements!

Vote for your favorite plant here.

Here are the last few Green Plant of the Year winners:

2025: Fresh Del Monte Produce: North Portland, Ore.

2024: Keystone Potato Products: Hegins, Pa.

2023: Hormel-Fontanini Foods: McCook, Ill.
