SIR exercise: Delhi voters get 10 more days to submit enumeration forms

NEW DELHI: Electors in the national capital have got an extra 10 days to submit their enumeration forms for the ongoing SIR, with Election Commission on Wednesday releasing a revised schedule for Delhi. SIR timelines were also revised for Punjab, Telangana and Karnataka.House-to-house visits by BLOs in Delhi, which started on June 30, will now continue till August 8, instead of July 29 as originally scheduled. The date of publication of the draft electoral roll has been extended to August 17 from August 5.Claims and objections against the draft roll may be filed between August 17 and September 16, and these will be disposed of by October 1. The final electoral roll will now be published on October 19 instead of October 7.

Delhi completes 99.2% voter form distribution

As per the latest status report on SIR in Delhi, over 1.4 crore enumeration forms (covering 99.2% of Delhi’s electorate) have been distributed and 21.7 lakh forms (15%) collected and digitised. The highest percentage of forms digitised so far are in Outer North district (29.6%), followed by South West (21.8%), while the lowest digitisation is in Old Delhi (9.1%) and east Delhi (9.2%).According to the revised schedules for three other states, BLO house visits will now continue till August 3 in Punjab and its draft electoral roll published on August 13. After settlement of claims and objections between August 13 and October 8, the final roll for Punjab will be published on October 12.House-to-house visits by BLOs in Karnataka will continue till August 8, draft roll published on August 17 and the final roll on October 19. Similarly, enumeration forms will now be collected till August 3 in Telangana, followed by the publication of the draft roll on August 10. The notice phase and disposal of claims and objections will go on till October 8, culminating in publication of the final roll for Telangana on October 12.On Tuesday, EC had revised the SIR schedule for Andhra Pradesh and Haryana.
