An armed man entered a branch of Bank of Georgia in the Abasha Municipality, fired a shot from a hunting rifle, and was arrested at the scene by police.
Officers from the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Police Department detained the suspect during a rapid response operation on charges of robbery, The Caspian Post reports via Georgia’s Interior Ministry.
Investigators said the incident occurred on July 3, when the suspect entered the bank branch and discharged a single round from a hunting shotgun.
No injuries were reported, and police seized the firearm as evidence.
A criminal investigation has been launched under Article 179 of Georgia‘s Criminal Code, which covers robbery and carries a maximum penalty of up to seven years in prison.
