DEWAN Rakyat Speaker, Tan Sri Johari Abdul, today reminded Members of Parliament not to skip parliamentary sessions.

He said that any MP who is unable to attend the session must inform the speaker or the Secretary of the Dewan Rakyat of their absence.

“I understand that there are several members of the House who are unable to attend due to certain factors such as official business, health issues, or personal matters.

“I request that they inform the Secretary or me if they are unable to attend the parliamentary session in accordance with the rules.

“This is to ensure the people do not consider you to be absent during the Dewan Rakyat sitting,” he said when chairing the Dewan Rakyat sitting, which began today.

Johari also expressed his condolences to the family of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM) Minister, Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, following the death of her husband, Datuk Kamil Misuari, on Thursday.

He also prayed for the health and well-being of Zulkifli Ismail (PN-Jasin) and his wife, who were previously involved in a road accident.

It was earlier reported that the vehicle Zulkifli and his wife were travelling in was involved in an accident at the Jelatang traffic light intersection on Lebuh Alor Gajah-Melaka Tengah-Jasin (AMJ), last Saturday.

The incident occurred at about 5.20 am when Zulkifli, who was driving a Nissan Teana with his wife, were on their way to Selangor to attend a Muslimat program. – June 22, 2026
