Chongqing – The first all-English international broadcast program in Chongqing, the 220th special episode of “Let’s Meet,” titled “Upholding and Reshaping: The 5th CMG Forum Held in Chongqing”, jointly produced by the Western China International Communication Organization and Chongqing Satellite TV, will be aired on both domestic and international media on June 17.

This episode focuses on the 5th CMG Forum, held in Chongqing on June 10. Under the theme “Upholding and Reshaping: The Media’s Mission in the Intelligent Era,” the forum brought together around 300 Chinese and international guests to discuss how media narratives are evolving in the age of artificial intelligence and what values the industry must continue to uphold.

International Media Delegation Explores Chongqing

From June 8 to 9, an international media delegation comprising representatives from different countries and media organizations visited Chongqing. Their itinerary covered a range of cutting-edge scenarios, from the digital preservation of the Dazu Rock Carvings to smart city development, intelligent manufacturing, and film technology, offering them a firsthand look at the city’s vitality, where traditional culture and modern technology converge. Through their lenses, the world saw more than a city of mountains and rivers. It envisioned an innovative metropolis where tradition and modernity coexist and industrial development and urban growth advance in tandem.

Truth Never Rests: The 5th CMG Forum Kicks Off

At the forum on June 10, executives from international media organizations and representatives from the technology sector exchanged views on media transformation, industry challenges, and ethical responsibilities in the intelligent era. Guests,, including Tshilidzi Marwala, Rector of the United Nations University and UN Under-Secretary-General, and Paul Bascobert, President of Reuters, noted that artificial intelligence is reshaping how content is produced. Yet the media’s commitment to truth, human oversight, and professionalism must never be replaced by technology.

Media Leaders Gather to Explore the Forum’s Theme

On the future development of the media industry in the intelligent era, guests from various countries noted that technology is reshaping the communication landscape, but the core mission of media professionals remains unchanged: to deliver truthful, accurate, and valuable information. In the face of changes brought by AI, the media industry should uphold professionalism and social responsibility while strengthening cross-border cooperation, opening up a broader space for future development.

Starting with Let’s Meet: Telling the Stories of Two Places

Kelum Shivantha, Editor-in-Chief of Sri Lanka Mirror, shared the media outlet’s cooperation with Let’s Meet. He said the partnership not only marks a new starting point for telling the stories of the two cities but also provides an opportunity for global media organizations to exchange views on how to address the challenges of new media. As AI-generated content grows rapidly, the media industry needs to keep pace with technological changes, he noted, while delivering clear and accurate information remains an unwavering principle.

“Let’s Meet” airs every Wednesday and Saturday at 6 PM on Chongqing Satellite TV. It is also simultaneously released on the Let’s Meet official WeChat Channels, Bridging News app, iChongqing website, Facebook and YouTube channels, WCICO’s global communication matrix platform, and Chongqing Satellite TV’s new media matrix.
