Damascus, June.14 (SANA) Syria’s Information Minister Khaled Zaarour discussed with the UAE Ambassador to Syria, Hamad Rashid bin Alwan al-Habsi, ways to expand cooperation and benefit from the UAE’s experience in developing media legislation and addressing media disinformation.

During the meeting on Sunday, Information Minister stressed that the Ministry of Information is working to consolidate the principle of being the “primary source of news” through immediate and timely coverage of events, with the aim of minimizing rumors and misleading information and preventing inaccurate interpretations.

Minister Zaarour indicated that efforts are currently underway to evaluate the state of the Syrian media sector as a preliminary step toward formulating a comprehensive strategy that takes into account existing challenges and gaps.

He added that the strategy will serve as a foundation for modernizing Syrian media and enhancing its national role and public service mission.

Ambassador al-Habsi expressed his country’s readiness to cooperate with Syria through the exchange of expertise and experiences, in a manner that supports the development of the media sector and strengthens joint cooperation between the two countries.
