Ras Laffan oil refinery in Qatar has reportedly been attacked in an Iranian missile strike. “Emergency response teams were deployed immediately to contain the resulting fires, as extensive damage has been caused,” QatarEnergy wrote on social media.
All staff members are accounted for, and there are currently no casualties, the statement said. Ras Laffan is home to a refinery that Iranian state media had earlier said was a target and should be evacuated. The oil refinery is one of the world’s leading LNG production sites, coming under focus after Iran issued threats of retaliation.
