BlueRoom Simulations has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Airbus Australia Pacific and Airbus Helicopters to work on mixed-reality training for future Helicopter Emergency Medical Services programs. Under the MoU, Airbus Australia Pacific, Airbus Helicopters and BlueRoom Simulations intend to jointly investigate cooperation opportunities relating to future HEMS programs, including the potential inclusion of BlueRoom’s high-fidelity mixed reality training capability as part of broader aircraft training, support and sustainment solutions.
BlueRoom’s mixed reality training system enables aeromedical, emergency medical and defence teams to train inside realistic operational environments while using real equipment, clinical workflows and mission-specific scenarios. The collaboration will explore how this capability may support complex aeromedical operations, including crew resource management, hoisting, search and rescue, law enforcement and other specialist mission profiles.
Ben Krynski, CEO and Co-Founder of BlueRoom Simulations, said the MoU represented an important milestone for the Australian technology company. “This MoU is an exciting step for BlueRoom and reflects the growing role mixed reality can play in preparing emergency medical and aeromedical teams for complex real-world operations. BlueRoom was developed to help crews train in realistic, high-pressure environments without needing to rely on live aircraft for every scenario. Working with Airbus Australia Pacific and Airbus Helicopters gives us the opportunity to explore how this capability could support future HEMS programs in Australia and markets globally.”
Christian Venzal, Managing Director, Airbus Helicopters in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific, said, “We are pleased to explore innovative Australian training capabilities that may support future helicopter emergency medical services programs and enhance operational readiness for customers. HEMS crews operate in some of the most demanding conditions imaginable, and the way we prepare them needs to keep pace. Mixed reality training has real potential to put crews into high-pressure scenarios in a safe and controlled manner.”
The MoU also contemplates longer-term opportunities, including the potential promotion of BlueRoom’s capabilities within Airbus’ global supply chain and for other international tender opportunities where appropriate.
