Commercial and industrial property specialist, Towngate plc, has secured a trio of deals in West and East Yorkshire.

These include two leases within the racket sport industry – We Do Tennis CIC, providing a pickleball facility in Hull, and Optimum Padel, operating one of the first padel centres in Leeds – alongside Routes Healthcare, a care provider taking office space in Brighouse.

We Do Tennis CIC, which delivers tennis, padel, and pickleball services across the UK, has signed a 10-year lease for Units A1 and A2 on Copenhagen Road, Sutton Fields Industrial Estate, Hull.

The 21,900 sq ft facility, will become home to the organisation’s first standalone pickleball venue, named We Do Pickleball, launching in February.

The new centre features seven pickleball courts and state-of-the-art onsite cafe, employing up to 10 members of staff initially, with a view to expand.

Tom Lamb, property director at Towngate, said: “We are thrilled to support the launch of We Do Tennis’ first dedicated pickleball venue.

“The location is a perfect fit, being already well established and with excellent transport links, alongside complementary neighbouring businesses. We’re confident We Do Tennis will succeed in growing the sport in the area.”

Matt Whitaker, director at We Do Tennis CIC, said: “We’re really pleased with the new venue location, and the possibility for growth of our first pickleball-focused site as the popularity of the sport continues to expand in the UK.

“With quick access to Hull city-centre and transport links alongside ample parking. We’re looking forward to sharing our love for pickleball with the people of Hull.”

Towngate also welcomes Optimum Padel, which has signed a 10-year lease for 30,747 sq ft at Unit 4, Towngate Link, Cross Green Vale, at the Cross Green Industrial estate in Leeds.

Opening its doors in March, Optimum Padel has converted the detached warehouse building into an eight-court indoor padel club.

Also hiring up to 10 new staff members, the facility will offer coaching for all abilities, as well as tournaments, a social hub, and specialty coffee offerings.

Lamb said: “The site offers excellent accessibility to Leeds and the motorway network, as well as ideal space for courts and social gatherings, with plenty of parking.

“The team has done an excellent job on the conversion and we’re looking forward to seeing the growth of the padel community in the city.”

Adam Silverwood, managing director at Optimum Padel, added: “Padel is as much about connection as competition and our priority is to create a genuinely community-focused club – a place where people can play, meet friends, work, eat, and drink under one roof.

“With mental health challenges becoming ever more prevalent in daily life, it’s important to provide a welcoming environment where people feel comfortable talking, connecting, and being part of a community.

“Another strong focus will be getting children into sport by offering lessons and holiday camps. As a football coach and dad of three, I see firsthand how sport has a positive impact on children, both physically and mentally.

“We bring a broad and complementary range of expertise that puts us in a strong position to make Optimum Padel something truly special for Leeds.”

Towngate has also confirmed signing of a five-year lease of 2,300 sq ft at Parkview House, part of the Woodvale Office Park, in Brighouse with Routes Healthcare.

Relocating from Huddersfield, the firm is a care provider operating throughout the North of England.
