As of Monday, Daqing Oilfield, a subsidiary of China National Petroleum Corp in Heilongjiang province, has achieved cumulative natural gas sales of 5 billion cubic meters through its exploration area in Sichuan province and Chongqing.

The daily gas production has stabilized at 5.7 million cubic meters, contributing to the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle and the national energy supply guarantee, according to the company.

Daqing Oilfield has cultivated the Sichuan-Chongqing exploration area since 2018, leading to multiple breakthroughs under complex geological conditions. The exploration area has deepened its understanding of geological reservoirs and optimized drilling pressure technology to achieve a leap in daily production capacity from 600,000 cubic meters, paving the way towards the ambitious goal of an annual production of 2 billion cubic meters.

As a crucial energy supply source for the economic circle, the steadily growing natural gas capacity provides reliable support for regional industrial production and residential heating, aiding in the high-quality development of the regional economy.

Additionally, the exploration area’s technological advancements in sulfur-containing gas fields have accumulated valuable experience for Daqing Oilfield in the efficient development of complex oil and gas reservoirs.

In the future, Daqing Oilfield plans to explore the resource potential of the Sichuan-Chongqing area to progress oil and gas development and green transformation, thereby contributing to the national dual carbon strategy and strengthening the energy security barrier, the company said.
