Hong Kong’s domestic workers living in cardboard boxes leaves internet furious

Life isn’t easy, and this viral video from Hong Kong is literally a living example of this age-old. Recently, a video that went viral online is showing the tough life of domestic workers in Hong Kong. The city is one of the richest in the world. The video shows that the women who work as helpers there have a very tough life. They work hard to keep the city running. On their only day off they have to sleep in cardboard boxes under bridges. There is nowhere for them to goThe Instagram account @the.tale.of.travel shared the video and said that thousands of helpers from the Philippines and Indonesia have to leave their employers’ homes every Sunday. They are not allowed to live on their own so they have to find a place to stay on the streets. They sleep under bridges. Use cardboard boxes as makeshift rooms.https://www.instagram.com/reel/DXhn5sei-gm/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_linkA way to surviveThe video says that these cardboard boxes are the way these women can have some privacy. They do not have a choice. It is not a tradition they choose to follow. It makes people wonder how a rich city like Hong Kong can treat these women, who take care of children badly.Netizens are divided The video has started a debate online with over 2.8 million views. Some people are very upset about how unequal the wealth is in Hong Kong. Others say that the workers go to the bridges to meet their friends because they do not have any public space to go to.The crisis Some people who commented on the video said that this is not just a problem in Hong Kong. They said that workers in the US and other rich countries also face struggles. The video has made people talk about the cost of having a domestic workforce in the city. Hong Kong’s domestic workers are still here. Hong Kong’s wealth gap is still very wide.
