Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Tuesday that Beijing is ready to work together with Africa to prevent the Middle East conflict from spilling over into the continent.

“The conflicts in the Middle East are spilling over into African countries. China is ready to work with Africa to navigate these challenging times, and jointly promote peace and seek common development,” Xi told his Mozambican counterpart Daniel Chapo in Beijing, as stated by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning in a post on the US social media company X.

Xi added that China and Africa, together with other Global South countries, “represent a just force in this turbulent and transforming world.”

He also stressed that both sides will uphold the principles of peace, remain committed to development, and promote win-win cooperation.

The two presidents agreed to elevate the bilateral relationship to “the level of China-Mozambique community with a shared future in the new era.”

Chapo has been on a visit to China from last Thursday to this Wednesday.

Mozambique and China’s bilateral trade was $5.4 billion in 2025, according to Chinese customs statistics.
