Zwane must be reprimanded for banking comments: ANC spokesman Kodwa – eNCA

JOHANNESBURG – The ANC has called on President Jacob Zuma to reprimand Minister Mosebenzi Zwane for creating confusion over a probe into banks that refused to do business with the Guptas.

ANC Spokesperson Zizi Kodwa said, “These are the kinds of statements that don’t unfortunately promote public confidence in our government”

He said that Zwane had announced “an issue that is not the position of government.”

Kodwa said the party also felt it was up to the Minerals and Energy minister  to address allegations that he had personal business interests with the Gupta family.

Earlier, the SACP had also called for Zwane to be reprimanded.

They said, ““Minister Zwane’s utterances effectively fed into the use of our Cabinet to advance the private business interests of the Guptas while ignoring public outcry and call for a judicial commission into corporate state capture.”
