…to host 2017 world aviation conference

The Minister of State for Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, has disclosed that Nigeria will host the 2017 International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) World Aviation Conference.

The minister stated this at a reception to commemorate the 87th National Day of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at the weekend in Abuja. 

The international forum, themed, “Financing Aviation Infrastructure in Africa” will hold between 20th and 22nd of November, 2017 in Abuja, the minister said. 

The event, he added, would have in attendance, officials of the World Bank, African Development Bank, Islamic Development Bank and leading companies discussing issues of financing infrastructure in aviation. 

The minister, however, reiterated the ministry’s commitment to executing projects that are public-private partnership in nature. 

The projects, he said, included the establishment of national carriers that are fully private-sector driven, concessions of airports, among others. 

According to him, Nigeria is investors’ haven in Africa with the population of 170 million people and 34% rate of returns on investments, which he said is the highest in the world.
