Third automobile accident victim loses life | Monroe

The third victim of a July 19 car accident near Meridian lost his life Sunday.

According to Clarke County Coroner Greg Fairchild, Randy Toler, 57, of Greenwood Springs, died at 12:04 p.m. at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson due to complications from the car wreck.

His wife, Tyla, and grandson, Gavin, passed away following the wreck, which occurred on Highway 45 near the intersection of Highway 145 near Mathis Produce in northern Clarke County.

Tyla and Gavin were laid to rest July 26 at Center Hill Cemetery in Hamilton following a funeral service at Hamilton High School’s gymnasium.

According to media reports from Meridian, the Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to a non-fatal accident at the same intersection last Friday.

The accident involving the Tolers and four other teenage Monroe County passengers stressed how dangerous the intersection is. According to WTOK, the Mississippi Department of Transportation was scheduled to begin work on a temporary J-turn this week.
