Tanzania to acquire six state-of-the-art civilian radars – News Ghana


“We are in the final stages to advertise tenders for the purchase of the new radars to improve aviation and air transport in the country,” he said.

Mbarawa made the remarks shortly after he had visited the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA), the Tanzania Meteorological Agency and Zanzibar airport in the east Africa’s archipelago.

“Our zeal is to make sure that air transport is the safest in the country and attracts many tourists,” the minister said.

He appealed to TCAA to license pilots who met international qualification standards to make air transport safer and reliable.

Last month, TCAA said it planned to acquire two new civilian radars this financial year to replace the one used in Dar es Salaam and install a new one at Mwanza to enhance national surveillance capacity. Enditem
