ST ANDREW, Jamaica – People’s National Party President Portia Simpson Miller is banking on her political track record to take her across the finish line in today’s presidential elections.
Simpson Miller, who arrived to loud cheers and chants of ‘a Portia we seh’ at the National Arena in Kingston on Saturday, told journalists she has served her party and the country well.
“This election will be no different. At the end of polling Portia Simpson Miller will be declared president of the People’s National Party.
“[It is] a movement that I’ve served from 1974 when I became a councillor… to when I became the leader of the party. But I know that I’ve done my best in every area that I’ve served,” Simpson Miller said.
Approximately 3,400 delegates are expected to vote in today’s elections.
Dr Karl Blythe is Simpson Miller’s challenger.
