New Chinese Regional Airline Planned

BEIJING—Shareholders have registered a company intend to be a regional airline in the central Chinese province of Hubei.

The company, Xiangyang Airlines, says it will begin operation in 2018 with two Avic MA60 turboprop airliners, and will have 30 aircraft within five years.

So many aircraft would be useful for taking advantage of capacity at the expanding airport in the company’s home city, Xiangyang, but new Chinese airlines often fail to achieve the fleet targets.
