Lots of reasons to fear private health care

Re: “There’s nothing to fear from private health care,” comment, Sept. 1.

Gwyn Morgan’s claim that waiting lists for surgery can be reduced by adding a second stream of privately paid health care would only be true if there were a surplus of underemployed doctors and nurses.

In real life, where there is a shortage, it would only make waiting times much worse for the majority as the private system siphoned off professionals.

Be afraid. Be very afraid.
