Governor appoints Jack Kennedy to Virginia Aviation Board | News

WISE, Va.—Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe has named Jack Kennedy, Wise County’s circuit court clerk, to the Virginia Aviation Board.

The eight member board publicizes and monitors policies and programs of the Virginia Department of Aviation, promulgates regulations necessary to promote and develop safe aviation practices and allocates funds to localities for aviation development.

“I am honored to have accepted and taken the oath and filed the required documents to serve and represent Region 1,” Kennedy said Friday. “My service objective is to seek to have friendlier skies integrating manned with unmanned aerial systems as the state regulatory environment begins to mature from the experimental phase. We have statewide and regional opportunities in the utilization of this technology.

Kennedy previously served on the Virginia Commercial Space Flight Authority.

The governor also appointed Marie Therese Dominguez, an attorney from Arlington, to the board.
