MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, MI — Underserved children and their families can receive free health screening and disease prevention tips from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Muskegon Family Care.
Throughout the afternoon of Sept. 17, health care workers will screen for hypertension, diabetes, dental problems and a range of other health issues. The care center is located at 2201 S. Getty St. in Muskegon Heights.
Health care workers also will share tips about prevention and treatment for diseases common among children.
In addition to the screenings and prevention tips, people can partake in the food, giveaways and games at the event.
Muskegon Family Care co-sponsors the screenings and activities with Healthy Lifestyles, Healthy Communities, which provided $5,000 in grant money and about $5,000 more in medical and dental supplies for the event, according to a press release from the care center.
Healthy Lifestyles, Healthy Communities started in 2006 to extend health care and dental services to underprivileged children and their families, according to the press release. It is the flagship program of the Henry Schein Cares Foundation.
