Family owned garage Mobile Mechanic becomes the first in Worcester to receive AA certification (From Malvern Gazette)

A FAMILY-OWNED garage has become the first in Worcester to receive certification from the Automobile Association (the AA).

Worcester’s Mobile Mechanic, based at Three Springs Trading Estate, was given the award after a thorough inspection assessing both customer experience and workshop practices, ensuring that equipment and staff qualifications meet the required standard.

The business, which is a member of the Good Garage Scheme and accredited to the Motor Ombudsman service and repair code, was launched by husband and wife team David and Sue Connellan, 24 years ago.

After working from the driveway of their home and in old chicken sheds, pig pens and cow byres on a farm, the couple moved into the city centre 11 years ago and now employ three technicians and an apprentice.

“We’re delighted to have received AA certification as we’re committed to driving up standards and always have the best interests of motorists at heart,” said Mr Connellan.

“AA Certified Garage and Garage Guide champion expertise within our industry and we’re dedicated to keeping the association’s ‘Garage Promise’ which guarantees quality of work and customer confidence.”

Worcester’s Mobile Mechanic also supports charities at home and abroad. Mr and Mrs Connellan took part in charity dance event Strictly Worcestershire 2015 and are trustees of the Glory Baptist Project, which supports three schools in The Gambia.

Money raised from the sale of scrap metal pays a teacher’s wages and covers the cost of a container full of equipment, books and toys to be sent to the West African country every other year.
