One South Jersey airport had a few new planes flying this week, giving visitors an up-close glimpse of rare aviation history.
The Millville Executive Airport welcomed the Collings Foundation’s Wings of Freedom Tour to their flight lines to give visitors the opportunity to tour, explore, and learn about rare World War II planes, including the B-17 Flying Fortress, B-24J Liberator, B-25 Mitchell bomber, and the P-51 Mustang.
Some visitors were even lucky enough to climb on board and take a flight.
A special ceremony for local World War II veterans was held on Thursday, Aug. 31st, to let them share their stories and tour the planes.
The Wings of Freedom Tour will continue Friday, September 1st, from 9 a.m. until noon, with proceeds going towards preserving these historic artifacts.
