WARREN — Sales of new and used vehicles reported by area automobile dealers rose in August compared to the same month last year.
Dealerships in Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties reported 5,449 overall vehicle sales last month, up from 5,101 in August 2016, according to data from the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers Association.
Year todate, there were 40,622 new and used vehicle sales as of Aug. 30, up from 36,089 for the same period last year.
Last month, there were 3,155 new vehicles sold across the Mahoning Valley compared to 2,801 in August 2016.
Year-to-date sales of new vehicles, as of Aug. 30, at 23,347 units, were also up, from 19,988 in the same period last year.
There were 2,233 used vehicles sold in August, up from 2,243 last year. As of Aug. 30, 16,748 used vehicles were sold versus 15,627 for the prior year’s first eight months.
In Trumbull County, Sims Buick-GMC of Warren sold the most vehicles with 176; followed by Diane Sauer Chevrolet of Warren with 151; and Klaben Ford Lincoln of Warren with 119.
